Abstract
Slow load transient response and potential cross-reg- ulation effect are two major performance barriers for single-in- ductor multiple-output (SIMO) power converters. To overcome these barriers, this paper prese nts a parallel-structured hybrid SIMO power converter with an ad aptive current compensation (ACC) technique. With the employment of new and compact linear regulators, the proposed ACC technique improves both the step-up/down transient responses signi ficantly without the needs on advanced controls or high switc hing frequency. The interactive duty ratio changes between sub-converters are also avoided due to the fast recovery during load transition periods. Cross-regulation effect is thus minimized. The SIMO power converter is fabricated with 0.35 µm CMOS process. The input voltage is 3 V and two output voltages are regulated at 1.8 V and 1.2 V , respectively, with a switching frequency of 500 kHz. The peak ef ficiency is measured at 82.8% with 102-mW load power. A 50.3-ns transient response time is achieved with 270-mW load change. No observable cross-regulation is found during load transient measurements.
