In this design, they can be independently programmed with 11b resolution over a 10pF range. The amplifier’s input stage (Fig. 22.2.2), is followed by a Miller-compensated class-A output stage. For test-purposes, this stage is designed to drive the 3kΩ input resistors (R1) of an off-chip inverting amplifier. For this reason, the ASIC’s supply current is about 50% higher than strictly necessary. 2 Capacitive MEMS microphone roadmaps are mainly driven by increasing SNR and reducing size/cost. This requires smaller microphones, ASICs with lower noise and smaller area, and cheaper packaging.
