(TDC) are used for temperature compensation of high-stability MEMS oscillators [1,2]. Such TDCs must achieve high resolution and high conversion rates in the kHz range to minimize temperature compensation impact on phase noise and frequency stability in a thermally dynamic environment, experiencing thermal ramps of 10°C/s or higher. This work achieves a resolution of 0.65mKrms in a conversion time of 0.72ms while drawing 550µA from a 1.125V supply. This corresponds to a resolution FOM of 190fJ·K2, improving energy-efficiency of state-of-the-art BJT-based sensors by >20" [3-6].
