applications. In these applications, a dynamic range of 100dB is generally required, which is far above the dynamic range of conventional image sensors, typically 60dB [1]. Generally, in order to meet the above requirement, a photodiode with a high saturation level is necessary. In principle however, the low dynamic range of the images taken by conventional image sensors can be improved by synthesizing multiply-exposed images without modifying the photodiodes. Yet, until now, the multiple images have been stored in external frame memories and synthesized on processors [2]. Therefore, such an imaging system with multiple exposures requires as many frame memories as the number of the exposures. In this work, we have developed an image sensor capable of shooting both dark- and bright-objects in one synthesized frame
