high-data-rate WiMedia UWB systems is to design an efficient LO generation. On one hand, it must fulfill the stringent requirements (multiple LO frequencies, spurious, settling time and I/Q imbalance), and on the other hand it should yield minimized power consumption, area and complexity. Various different UWB LO concepts have already been proposed [1-4], but none of them seems to give a clear advantage over the other. In this work, a completely different approach for LO generation is presented that uses sub-harmonic injection locking. Measurement results in 90nm CMOS clearly show the chip meets the required performance, while it has the lowest area and power as compared to the reported state-of-the-art.
