Hence, for stability, dominant-pole compensation and zero insertion are needed at the error amplifier output. In contrast, as the role of C2 is only to discharge the remaining inductor current, the voltage across C2 does not have to be controlled tightly. As such, the gain of the error amplifier can be set to a small value and the dominant pole is not generated by the error amplifier. In the presented control loop, only one pole (from C2 and If) exists and this makes the control loop stable without the need for compensation even under wide load variation.
