Processors, often equated with human brains, are amongst the most sophisticated and complicated semiconductor logic devices available. Designing such processors is a very complicated task, which requires careful combination of five key technologies: (1) semiconductor process, (2) architecture, (3) circuit, (4) design methodology, and (5) package. 1.0 Introduction In the history of human kind, we have witnessed remarkable development and growth of industry. Everywhere, from home appliances to space shuttles, such industrial growth has made our lives more productive and comfortable. However, this comes with an alarming increase in energy consumption, primarily involving fossil fuels, and increasing greenhouse-gas emissions. Such activity has led to unprecedented levels of pollution, environmental destruction and climate change, and, ironically, has become a serious threat to human health [1].
