Dwaipayan Biswas1, Chris Van Hoof1,2, Filip Tavernier2, Nick Van Helleputte1 Figure 28.3.3 (right) shows the circuit implementation of the capacitor bank and the 3-T comparator within the NS loop. Since the input is a 10b quantization error updated at only 2048Hz, the requirements of the 2nd integrator are relaxed (low speed, low output swing). However, the quantization error can be disturbed by the charge injection during the sampling or comparison. A small-size PMOS switch with dummies is used to reduce the charge injection and minimize the leakage current. The latter ensures the quantization error can be stored on the capacitor for at least 2 samples. The 3-T dynamic comparator uses a neutralization method by adding cross-coupled dummy input pairs to decrease the kickback effect. A gain of 2 is achieved by doubling the input transistor size at the VRES_O terminal. imec, Leuven, Belgium
